Why remote war is bad war

portraying remote war as some innately 'eviler' thing, due to detachment, is I think incorrect

cruelty, barbarism, and other horrific human traits are on display in EVERY war. regardless of personal attachment.

the pilots of the american aircraft firebombing japanese cities were certainly detached.

the machete was the main tool in the rwandan genocide. killing with a machete is very personal. robert sapolsky once described an event in which an african warlord was slaughtering a town, and the soldiers brought instruments because they viewed what they were doing as 'beautiful'.

ALL war, almost by definition, is evil. maybe necessary in some cases, but always evil.
