Not to divulge too many details of my personal life, but I've been in a position to where I was unable to work on ieddit for the last several days, starting when my
finally died, without me having the funds to purchase a new one. And this was just the start to a rather stressful time period.
Thankfully I've been donated enough parts from friends to have a functioning desktop, quite a good one actually, so I'll be setting up a dev environment soon.
I apologize for the leaving you guys in the dark, I should've at least provided updates from my phone. Once I have my dev environment setup, I'll catch up on replies, and attempt to implement online image expansion today.
Same here. $350 b970 based Toshiba from 2012. I replaced the hinges a few years ago but not the case. Since it's cheap plastic the screw holes broke. It's now held together with blue duck tape. Thanks to the ssd and second 4 GB ram stick it's still useable for normal things. It feels faster than my wife's 1 year old i3 based HP.
I replaced that taped-up laptop with my current one back in 2009. Upgraded to an SSD since then, and had to replace the internal fan a couple times, but otherwise still exactly how I bought it, including the 4 GB of RAM which is the max it supports. And it still runs like a fucking champ. It's probably relevant that I run Arch Linux instead of whatever diarrhea Microsoft has barfed up most recently.
