SUNNYVALE, California — On a mild sunny day in Silicon Valley, representatives from Google, Microsoft, Apple, and Verizon were on hand for the launching of the SmartMail Alliance.
"The SmartMail Alliance brings the first major innovation in personal communications since electronic mail," said Jane Sievert, the project's managing director. "By combining the world's most powerful AI with our already highly advanced email systems, users no longer have to interpret what senders are trying to communicate or worry that opening an email might expose them to toxic messages." With SmartMail, the sender's email is sent to your Inbox with clear and concise text in the body and you don't have to worry about seeing any trigger points.
The Alliance announced that current users have all been upgraded to the new service and can begin enjoying it immediately.
The SmartMail Alliance also announced that in order to further crack down on spam, users not on one of its members email services should sign up immediately to make sure their messages can safely arrive in their customers' inboxes.
When asked about how to apply for membership to the Alliance, Sievert said they would address that question at a later date.
